| Company BackgroundOUR HISTORY
Mutek began in the 1970's at the beginning of the personal computing revolution. Our staff were all keen young electronics graduates and so decided to design a microprocessor development system with a 7 segment display, keyboard and lots of add on boards. Needless to say we did not compete very effectively with the giant companies that soon sprang up, and so in the early 1980's we turned our attention to data communications and launched an interface converter / print buffer called Spriinter on an unsuspecting world. This proved to be a great success and resulted in a number of similar products that lead on to current times. The printer buffer soon spawned a telephone call logging buffer; a special purpose buffer with a no-break power supply and software specially designed for the industry.
In the 1990s we developed HitchHiker to allow RS232 and Centronics parallel ports to be extended across Ethernet networks. Initially they were not routable, but in due course we made our stack IP compliant and kept on adding protocols. IGMP, SNMP (as used by HP OpenView) and TFTP were significant among the additions.
Piper is a faster, smaller and cheaper version of HitchHiker for the new millennium. Its tiny footprint makes it an ideal design-in to add network functionality to many products.
TNC is the latest product to benefit from our ever evolving stack. We have always developed our own TCP/IP software, an unusual route to take due to the effort involved, and we have now added TCP data transport, HTTP (web server) and Telnet. If you are a developer who is interested in adding a TCP stack to your own product, why not give us a call.
Multilog and Netlog are the latest in the line of telephone call logging buffers. They offer huge buffer sizes and network connectivity.
Where to now? Development of the TCP/IP software is continuous and ongoing and we will soon announce more innovative products to take advantage of this technology. Keep watching this space and thanks for visiting us.
