Because it's an active device, the USB signals passing through the extension cable are buffered to assure signal quality and to meet the USB's Electrical and timing specifications.
It allows a USB device to have its cable length extended by up to 80ft, by serially connecting up to five 16ft extension cables. The USB Data Extension Cable acts as a transparent Hub and buffers all downstream and upstream data traffic. Both high speed and low speed devices will function equally well with the USB Data Extension Cable.
NB: Do not use this cable to connect two computers - use the 'USB Data Cable' above.
