RS232 optical barrier meets BS6301
The MV24-11 optical barrier allows unapproved terminal equipment to be connected to serial (RS232) ports marked 'Warning - Connect only apparatus complying with BS6301 to this point'. This includes all PABX ports and digital leased lines. When submitted with the clients terminal or system equipment, the converter will ensure rapid and simple BABT approval, and therefore will be of use to many US data communications companies selling to European customers where the British Standard 6301 approval is necessary. In addition to British approvals, a major US company recently gained Pan-European approval (EN 41003) for their system by incorporating the MV24-11. The approvals testing covers both safety and digital performance, and sets the precedence that the MV24-11 is digitally transparent and suitable for connection to X.25 ports. This will simplify the approval procedure for any other company wishing to take the same approvals path with their product.
